    The successful applicant will be required to:

    Selection Criteria:

    • Able to create beautiful and functional interfaces (HUD and UI)
    • Able to design, concept and deliver finished assets
    • Able to work independently as well as closely with programmers and artists
    • Experience with games and/or apps; working on both console and mobile platforms
    • Able to work on multiple projects


    Preferred skills:

    Programming : Gameplay Programmers

    Torus Games is seeking gameplay programmers for our Bayswater studio.

    We are offering multiple fixed term positions with view to extension depending on project requirements.

    You should have:
    • Strong understanding of C/C++ or C#
    • Sound knowledge of 3-D maths and physics
    • Ability to work on tasks unsupervised
    • Self-motivation
    • Strong technical problem-solving skills
    • Ability to identify and implement fun gameplay
    • Ability to provide creative input into the design and implementation of gameplay mechanics
    • Ability to integrate quickly into an existing team


    Desired skills:
    • Have developed and implemented gameplay mechanics on a commercial game
    • Vendor certification experience
    • Prior experience working with Unreal Engine / Unity
    • Experience in one or more of the following gameplay disciplines:

      • Character animation
      • Artificial intelligence
      • Game camera logic and behaviour
      • Gameplay physics
      • Effects, including both particle and sound
      • User interface design and implementation


    Selection Criteria:
    • Strong understanding of C/C++
    • Two or more years experience making games
    • Worked on at least one completed or soon-to-be-released game title(s)
    • Experience working with current generation console and/or mobile devices
    • Huge passion for creating and playing games

    Design : Level Designer

    Torus has an open position for an experienced Level Designer. This is a full time, fixed term position at our development studio in Bayswater.

    As a Level Designer, you will be responsible for the design, prototyping and game play of your levels at Torus. The ideal candidate will have industry experience on a shipped game.



    Selection Criteria:

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Game credits as a Level Designer
    • Passion for level design and computer games
    • Folio of level design, e.g. greybox maps, concept sketches and finished 3D models
    • Examples of your work must include explanations to show your understanding of design
    • Understanding of gameplay in consideration of genre, audience, technology and entertainment
    • 3D package experience (Maya preferred, but not essential)
    • Ability to work in a creative team
    • Ability to plan levels according to game design and art design requirements
    • Micromanage daily routines in accordance with Production schedules


    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Experience creating different genres (Platformers, FPS, Driving)
    • Scripting level experience
    • Experience with Unity or Unreal
    • Industry / Hardware knowledge

    Production : Producer

    Torus Games is seeking a creative, experienced, dedicated producer to join our established team in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne for a fixed-term contract.


    Responsibilities:
    • Project management; maintaining and coordinating the production process from project inception to completion
    • Developing and maintaining schedules, budgets and processes; working within budgetary restrictions
    • Creating and maintaining project documentation
    • Working with team leads; overseeing creative and technical game development
    • Overseeing project design to ensure reasonable scope
    • Interacting with the development team, publishers, management, press and the public
    • Promoting positive team morale
    • Managing milestone deliverables
    • Managing project outsourcing
    • Interviewing, reviewing and mentoring new team members in conjunction with HR and management
    • Conducting post-mortem reviews


    Skills required:
    • Excellent communication, written language and organisation skills
    • Ability to work within tight deadlines
    • Understanding of the video game development process
    • Ability to establish positive rapport with team
    • Comfortable to work both as a lead and a member of a team

    • Experience in agile planning
    • Experience with project scheduling software, e.g. Hansoft or MS Project
    • Experience in project scoping, budgeting, risk management, scheduling and resourcing

    • Able to manage multiple projects at once
    • Production credits on 3 published video game titles

    Essential Skills and Experience:

    • Experience creating realistic character models for film or video games
    • Experience creating detailed high-poly as well as efficient low-poly meshes
    • Highly experienced working with normal maps and capable of creating realistic textures and materials
    • Strong knowledge and understanding of anatomy
    • Highly experienced and proficient with Maya, Zbrush (and/or Mudbox) and Photoshop
    • Experience of real-time character pipelines and efficient management of UVs and texture memory


    Preferred Skills and Experience:

    • Knowledge of Physically Based shaders
    • Experience with the Unreal Engine pipeline

    Art : Environment and Prop Artist

    Torus Games is looking for 3D Artists to join our team in Bayswater on a fixed-term contract basis to work on game environments and props.

    Successful applicants should be skilled artists with experience in 3D modelling of game environments and objects. You will be building levels from basic design right through to final art. However there's a lot of room for filling other game artist roles such as level lighting, concepting, and particle effects – the extra skills you bring to the company will be happily utilised!

    Selection Criteria:

    • Game industry experience
    • Game texture creation, including experience with PBS
    • Maya, Zbrush (or Mudbox), Photoshop experience required
    • 3D Coat, Substance Designer, Unity, Unreal preferred
